Most importantly, players who want to relive the nostalgia of the classic trilogy and import their original custom Shepard may do so. They can also import the same face between games without necessarily importing an entire save file. While this feature was only available in Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 in the classic games, Face Codes are now part of every game's character creation in Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Each custom Shepard is given a unique Face Code, visible at the bottom of the screen in character creation and at the top of the screen in the Squad menu during the game, based on the positions of the various sliders. The new and expanded character customization options for Commander Shepard in Mass Effect Legendary Edition allow players to create a character that resonates with them, but some players may miss their original Shepard from the classic games.
